Frequently asked questions
How is a Kindtact bike QR different from writing my number on the frame?
Anyone walking past your bike at a rack can read a phone number written on the frame — and now they have your personal mobile. Kindtact gives finders a contact form instead. They never see your name, number, address, or email unless you choose to reply.
Will the sticker survive Australian weather and road grime?
We recommend a small laminated vinyl sticker (around 25–30mm) under the saddle, on the seat tube, or inside the chainstay. It only needs to be readable by a phone camera — not pretty. Most owners get years out of one.
What if a thief just peels the QR off?
Kindtact is built for honest finders, not thieves. The vast majority of stolen bikes that get recovered in Australia are spotted by ordinary people — neighbours, posties, council workers, other riders. The QR is for them. Pop a second sticker somewhere less obvious as a backup.
Does it replace registering my bike with BikeVAULT, 529 Garage, or the police?
No — keep doing those. A Kindtact QR is a faster, lower-friction first contact channel. Police databases need the finder to walk into a station with the bike. A QR sticker just needs a phone.
Can I use one Kindtact code for multiple bikes?
Yes. Point all your stickers at the same QR if you want every bike, helmet, and child seat to reach the same inbox. Or use one QR per bike with a custom note ("red Trek hybrid", "kid's blue Giant") so you know which one was found.
Does it work for e-bikes and cargo bikes?
Yes — and it's especially useful for them. E-bikes and cargo bikes are expensive, hard to replace, and a magnet for opportunistic theft. The QR works the same way: anyone with a smartphone can scan and message you.
Does Kindtact work for riders in Australia?
Yes. The QR works anywhere with mobile data — no app or sign-up needed for the finder. Stickers can be printed at home or at any local print shop, and the language and examples on this page are written for Australian riders. Plans are billed in USD.
