QR for your phone — Get your lost phone back, privately
Stick a Kindtact QR on the back of your phone. If it's lost, whoever finds it can reach you without seeing your number, email, or name. No app, no account for them.
Frequently asked questions
Will the sticker mess up wireless charging?
In our testing, no — the vinyl is thin enough that Qi and MagSafe charging work through it. Off-centre placement is safer if you want to be sure: stick it below the centre of the back rather than directly over the coil.
Can I move the QR to a new phone later?
The sticker itself doesn't move well (vinyl is one-shot), but the QR code is just a record in your dashboard. Stick a new sticker on the new phone and re-label it. Or peel the old one, clean the back with isopropyl, and apply a fresh one.
What if a thief scans the QR?
They see "this phone belongs to someone who'd like it back" and a message box. They don't see your name, number, address, or anything else useful for impersonation or follow-on attacks. The QR is safer to expose than almost any other "if found, call" label.
Does it work on Android and iPhone?
The QR is just a QR — any phone with a camera can scan it. Owners can be on either platform too. There's no app to install.
My phone has a case. Where do I put the sticker?
Three options, in order of how most people do it: (1) on the back of the phone itself, hidden inside the case; (2) on the inside of a clear case; (3) on the outside of the case. Option 1 is the most private; option 3 is the most visible to a finder.
