Spare key QR tag — for the keys you hand to someone else
A keyring tag for the spare key you lend out, leave with a mechanic, or hand to a house-sitter — finders message you, and never learn your name or address.
Frequently asked questions
What is a spare key QR tag?
A small Kindtact tag you clip onto a spare set of keys — the one you lend out, leave at a workshop, or hand to a house-sitter. Whoever ends up holding those keys can scan the tag and message you directly, without ever seeing your name or address.
Who gets the message — me, or the person I lent my keys to?
You. The QR belongs to your Kindtact account, not to whoever happens to be holding the keys. However many hands the spare passes through, a scan always reaches the owner — you.
Is it safe to leave a tagged key with a mechanic or valet?
Yes. The tag doesn't identify you, your car, or your address to anyone who sees it. If the key is misplaced at the workshop or during a valet shift, whoever finds it can only reach you through a private message form.
Can whoever finds my spare call me?
Only if you've switched on phone sharing for that specific QR. It's off by default, and turning it on shares your real number with anyone who scans — worth leaving off for a spare that's out of your hands, and switching on only if you want that.
What if a spare goes missing for good?
Archive that QR from your dashboard. The tag never identified you in the first place, so there's nothing for whoever has it to learn — archiving just stops the scan page working for that key.
Can I change what the tag says?
Before it's printed, yes — change the wording as many times as you like. Once a tag is printed, its headline is locked in and can't be edited. The note you attach and whether auto-reply is on both stay changeable any time, printed or not.
Do people need an app to scan it?
No. Any phone camera opens the scan page directly — no app, no account, and no sign-up for whoever is holding your keys.
Can the same account cover my car's windscreen too?
Yes. One Kindtact account covers every QR you own, so the same dashboard that manages your spare key tag can manage a windscreen sticker for the car it starts.
