Tradie Tool QR Tag Australia — Recover stolen & lost tools

Tag your whole tradie kit with private QR stickers. If a tool is stolen, lent and not returned, or left on a job, anyone can reach you in seconds — without your mobile being written on every drill. Built for Australian tradies. From $9.99/month for 10 tools.

Frequently asked questions

Why a QR sticker instead of just engraving my phone number?

Engraving your mobile number on every tool means every customer, sub-contractor, and stranger on a job site can read it. Kindtact gives finders a contact form instead — they message you privately, and you decide whether to reply. Your number, address, and email never appear on the tool.

Will the stickers survive a real Aussie work site?

We recommend a small laminated vinyl sticker (around 25–30mm) on the body of the tool, under the battery, or inside the case. The QR only needs to be readable by a phone camera — not pristine. Most tradies get years out of a single sticker, even on tools that live in the back of the ute.

Can I tag a whole kit with one Kindtact account?

Yes — that's exactly what the Business plan is for. One dashboard, ten or more QRs, each one assignable to a specific tool ("Makita 18V impact", "Hilti rotary hammer", "Bosch laser level"). When something turns up, the message tells you which tool was scanned.

What if a thief just peels the QR off?

Kindtact is built for honest finders, not professional thieves. Most stolen tools that get recovered are spotted by ordinary people — neighbours noticing a drill in a skip, council workers, the next tradie on site, a pawn shop staff member. Pop a backup sticker somewhere less obvious (under the battery, inside the case) so a quick peel doesn't cost you the kit.

Does it replace insurance or police reports?

No — keep doing both. A Kindtact QR is a faster, cheaper recovery channel than waiting for an insurance payout. It works alongside your existing insurance and any tool register you already use.

Can my apprentice or 2IC also see incoming messages?

On the Business plan you can forward incoming messages to multiple email addresses, so your office or 2IC can action them while you're on the tools. Replies still go through Kindtact's private relay — no personal numbers exposed.

Will it work on power tools, hand tools, ladders, and gear bags?

Yes. Anywhere you can stick a small laminated sticker. We've seen tradies tag impact drivers, mitre saws, gen-sets, ladders, levels, gas bottles, gear bags, and even site signage. The QR works the same way on every one.

How much does it cost for a full tradie kit?

The Business plan starts at $9.99/month for 10 QRs — enough for a typical sparky, plumber, or chippy kit. Larger crews can scale up from there. Compared to the cost of replacing one cordless drill, it's a no-brainer.
